The Edmonton Oilers forwards Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl have a close tie when it comes to the Oiler’s team cast. They both have been associated with the team for eight seasons now, and are extremely hopeful for the Oiler’s run-up to the Stanley Cup this time.

The road ahead is a long one, as they face Vancouver Canucks on Wednesday with heads and hearts in the game. The Stanley Cup chase will host the season opener at Rogers Place, Wednesday and the Oilers are extremely hopeful this time following the strides they made last season.

The Oilers began their Stanley Cup journey in 2006 and could only make it to the finals in the last season. For Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, who is appearing for the eighth time, it undoubtedly seems to be a fruit of their hard work.

Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl speak from experience for the Edmonton Oilers’ chase and that it does seem like they need a payoff for their long wait. “There really is nothing in this league that happens for free, and you do have to build it back up,” McDavid said. “There’s no carryover from season to season. Every year starts fresh and we’ve got to build it back up to where we were last year and beyond that.

Even though the victories they have had against some massive opponents like Los Angeles Kings and Calgary Flames in last seasons, have made them more tenacious and ready for the final chase this time, the last defeat in the hands of the Colorado Avalanche was disheartening.

I think success goes a long way,” Draisaitl said. “When you’re always losing in the first round or you don’t even make the playoffs, it seems like you’re so far away from it. Now you’re in the top four, one of the four best teams in the League, and you’re like, ‘OK, we’re there. We’re right there.” With all the enthusiasm they exhibit for their performance on the fields this time, it definitely looks like their time is now and the Edmonton Oilers deserve it.
