‘Bad Words’ by an enraged Sheldon Keefe as the Coyotes down Maple Leafs
Sheldon Keefe
Sheldon Keefe was at the receiving end of Toronto Maple Leafs’ despairing 4-2 loss to the Arizona Coyotes on Monday. Toronto Maple Leafs’ are finding it hard to chalk up a definitive game plan as they seemed a bit haywire in their game against the Arizona Coyotes. Against the run of play, the Coyotes have surprisingly performed better than everyone’s expectations.
After a 30th-place finish last season, the Coyotes were expected to buckle up in front of the three teams they have faced so far that was in the playoffs last season, maintaining a 1-2 record in their favor. After their win at Toronto, the Coyotes are brimming with confidence after denting up some big names on the eastern coast.
Games get tough and ugly, especially when you are the favorite but losing. And in the heat of the moment, the pressure gets the best of us. Something similar happened with Maple Leafs coach – Sheldon Keefe when he used some harsh words toward his team for their abysmal performance against the Arizona team.

Sheldon Keefe was all apologies during practice
Gathering their spirit and strength back the Maple Leafs will be looking to put the past behind them. Sheldon Keefe is also thinking something along similar lines as he met with his team during practice on Wednesday to clarify his comments during the game on Monday.
“I used some of the wrong words to try to describe what I was trying to describe, which was that the difference in the game I find was we weren’t able to produce, whether it was power play or 5-on-5,” stated Keefe about the game against the Coyotes. Maple Leafs were down 2-0 only after two and half period which was a result of their lackluster performance.
“That’s really the difference with all the puck time we had but by no means was I meaning anything beyond that, which was what I wanted them to be sure of. It was important they knew where I was coming from” – said Keefe as he was trying to portray that the team understood his position about what he said and why he said it.
Toronto Maple Leafs (2-2-0) competed against the Dallas Stars on Thursday as the loss against the Coyotes was their 2nd in the starting four games. Keefe was of the opinion that the players are yet to find their feet and get stable. He said – “Our best people have not found their rhythm”. How the players respond and apply Keefe’s tactic to their game will be assessed based on the matches that follow. Looks like Maple Leafs have much to figure out this season.
