Evander Kane fan teased and taunted by an LA Kings fan during 1st-round playoff series
At the age of 6, Cecily Eklund was diagnosed with brain cancer. During several encounters, the young Oilers fan has grown to be an Evander Kane fan and has attended games to show off support. After knowing what his young friend had to go through, Kane blasted the LA Kings fan for his crude behavior towards a child.
He called it as “gross and completely unacceptable” while the 10-year-old only asked people to “be kind” to all regardless of special situations. On Instagram, he wrote that without a doubt Cecily had an amazing experience at playoffs but some were totally unacceptable.
Especially at Game 3, Cecily was harassed for donning an Oilers jersey. She was even spat on and cursed by a Los Angeles Kings fan. Kane expressed how “disgusted and appalled” he was to know the situation. Apparently, the incident took place when the young girl tried to go to the restroom during the break.
My dear friend [Cecily] got to go on an amazing trip to LA last week that created some incredibly fun memories. But some of her experience in LA, specifically at Game 3 of the game was not. I'm disgusted and appalled at what happened to this amazing little girl in the stands and in a woman's restroom where she was harassed for wearing her jersey and was spit on by an LA fan for doing so. This type of behaviour is gross and completely unacceptable. For any young girl especially someone battling cancer to be treated in such a manner is pathetic. Grow up and as this smart young lady always says BE KIND!Evander Kane wrote on Instagram.
Following this post, a user named Chrissy Arvanitis further thrashed Kane using poor words to describe the incident. They wrote, “We Kings fans literally hate you,” indicating Kane and stating it was him who “made us spit on kids for being a dirty mother f—-r.”
Currently, this account has been deactivated. Regardless of one LA fan’s disruptive behavior, others have come together to support and donate to Cecily. This was a form of support and apology from the Kings fans to the 10-year-old cancer patient.
The person, Zach Lyttle created a donation page for Cecily and encouraged Kings fans to gather and support the cancer-fighting girl. Many supported Cecily stating one person’s behavior shouldn’t describe the loyal crowd of LA.
According to reports, the Kings fan have accumulated a donation of $7,000 for the young Oilers fan. Regardless of this disheartening incident, the 10-year-old is bursting with positive spirits as she mentioned, that watching ice hockey in LA feels totally different from Edmonton fans.
