“I will be back” – Twitter reacts as Lightning’s Pat Maroon slashes Oilers forward Evander Kane’s wrist, out 3-4 months

Evander Kane
Tuesday was a scary day for the Edmonton Oilers despite their win against the Tampa Bay Lightning. Oilers forward Evander Kane got his wrist accidentally cut by Lightning’s forward Pat Maroon. Pat unintentionally skated over his wrist as Kane fell on the ice after having a collision with Lightning defenceman Philippe Myers.
For now, Kane is placed on the IL list. He is out for 3-4 months from the ongoing NHL season as of now. Though the team won 3-2, there was no time to celebrate the occasion, as medics rushed Kane for immediate treatment. Thankfully the forward applied pressure on the cut.
After this horrifying accident, the game was paused for several minutes, as the team announced that the 31-year-old is stable and is being transferred to the hospital. Kane noted, “Thank you all for the kind wishes and prayers from over the past several hours”.
“Obviously last night was an extremely scary moment for me and I’m still in a little bit of shock. I won’t be back next game, but I will be back and I look forward to being back on the ice playing the game I love alongside my teammates in front of our great fans.”

Evander Kane later thanked the staff, noting, “I would like to thank the entire training staff of the Edmonton Oilers and Tampa Bay Lightning, along with all the doctors and paramedics who rushed to help treat and repair my injury. Without all of you, I know things would’ve been much worse and I’m sincerely grateful.
This season he has participated in 14 games, scoring 13 points with 5 goals and 8 assists, after penning a $20.5 million contract with the team. After his accident, forwards Mattias Janmark and Klim Kostin has been called from the AHL on Wednesday.
Oilers captain Connor McDavid said, “All of sudden, he was rushing as fast as I’ve seen and his eyes were as wide as a person’s can be”. “Obviously, we got the sense of how alarming it was and how scared he was and we’re all scared for him. It’s obviously a situation that you don’t want to see.”
Pat commented, “I hope he’s OK”. “When you look down and you see that much blood, you know there’s something wrong. Obviously, the boys are really worried about him. It’s a scary situation. You never wish that upon any player in the League.”
