The name of the Philadelphia Flyers continues to trend on social media. The team is under the spotlight after their 2022 draft pick Cutter Gautheir refused to play for them and left them through a trade. Following this massive development, they suffered another major loss as the Pittsburgh Penguins crushed them 4-1.
The Battle of Pennsylvania is always heated. It got heated more when Penguins’ forward Evgeni Malkin took center stage. While the Russian international took home the applause for his performance, his heated exchange from the penalty box is now going viral on social media.
With the Penguins leading 4-1 in the third period, a fight broke out which saw Malkin land a solid punch on the face of Scott Laughton. Once the shuffle was broken, the players were sent into the penalty box.
However, the argument did not stop there as Malkin kept arguing with the players. In a video that is making rounds on X sees him pointing towards the scoreboard above. He was reported to be saying, “Yeah? What is the score, f******* a*******!“
Evgeni Malkin leads Penguins to triumph against rivals Flyers
The stakes are always high in a rivalry game. The form of teams coming into these mega matches goes out of the window as they get ready to face off against one of their bitter rivals. In this clash of two heavyweights, Evgeni Malkin led his side to a 4-1 triumph.
The Russian forward recently overtook his childhood hero Sergei Fedorov to become the second-highest Russian-born goal scorer. Despite his age, he continues to defy the odds and contributed two points (one goal and one assist) to help his team claim a major victory.
Malkin played a part in the opening goal as he stirred the puck for Richard Rakell to slam it home from close range within 45 seconds of the game. He would later finish off the depleted Flyers while scoring the fourth and final goal of the game.
Flyers’ coach John Tortorella acknowledged the difference between the two teams and claimed the Penguins were the better side.

This win improved the Penguins’ record to 20-15-4 for the season. While they are still seventh in the Metropolitan Division table, they are just two points off Flyers in third spot, leading to an exciting second half of the season.
