Pittsburgh Penguins star Evgeni Malkin took a brief stop in California to take a picture with Golden State Warriors star Steph Curry. The Pittsburgh forward took the pleasure of jokingly stating that perhaps it was Curry who had the pleasure to meet him.
The picture was posted on Twitter as well as on Geno’s Instagram account as fans openly teased and enjoyed the star duos. Some fans boldly stated if Curry even knew who Malkin was, while others amazed themselves with the picture.
The Penguins’ west coast road trip will wrap up against San Jose Sharks on Tuesday. This was not Steph Curry’s first interaction with the NHL world. Back in September 2022, Mitchell Marner donned Curry’s iconic Davidson College Jersey during a fun play.
Evgeni Malkin achieves another NHL milestone
Steph Curry even took time to comment on Mitchell Marner’s throwback attempt stating, “Thanks for the love Mitch! 100# TCC”. In reply, Marner wished him good night with a love and fist emoji. Now it seems it was Evgeni Malkin’s time to enjoy a moment with the NBA star.
Though the Penguins seem to be frailing in the regular season as of now, last week Malkin added another achievement to his NHL milestone list. On Friday in Anaheim, the forward recorded 1,200 points in Pittsburgh’s 6-3 win.
Malkin commented, “I don’t want to say it’s just a number… it’s huge”. “Every year, I try to play my best. It’s a big number, I think, and I try to keep going.” Linemate Bryan Rust commented “Geno best” as the forward spoke to media after the game.
Sidney Crosby chimed in congratulating one of the Pittsburgh trio, “I think it just shows a lot of consistency”. “It’s a big number. To get to it, you’ve got to put up points every year and be consistent. It reflects that. I think it just shows the player that he’s been over the years. He’s still producing at a high rate, even at his age.”
Malkin further spoke with reporters noting, “1,200 is a good number. Life is good”. “I don’t want to think about oh, how much points I make without injuries. I play for a great team. still three more years. Maybe when I retire, I have 1,500 points. It’s a good number, too. I’m okay.”
