Matt Rempe, the rookie sensation of the New York Rangers continues to remain the hot topic. In his recent game, the 6-foot-8 star would get into a huge fight with Ryan Reaves. This came after he delivered a huge hit on Ilya Lyubushkin. Former NHL referee Tim Peel has now found his name becoming the center of attention due to this.

The Ex-official has been highly active on X since his retirement due to his controversies on the ice field. This time he would take time to mock the Toronto Maple Leafs’ fans as Rempe took out Lyubushkin and supported the decision of the officials to not penalize or suspended the Rangers’ star.

The severity of the hit was felt later on as the Leafs defenseman did not return to the action. This led to huge outburst from the Leafs supporters on X who voiced their frustrations and questioned why Rempe was not penalized.

One fan would later compare the officiating and claim that had it been Morgan Rielly, he would have been suspended for life. This comes after the defenseman was handed a five-game suspension for cross-checking Ridly Greig during the dying minutes of Battle of Ontario.

Peel would find this tweet and would laugh at this while writing “Wah Wah Wah” under it. This reaction of him soon found the fans attacking him left and right.

It is no secret that Tim Peel is a controversial figure in the NHL. His hot mic incident in 2021 where he spoke about “game-managing” has not been received well. Since then, his officiating career came to an abrupt end.

This though has not stopped him from expressing his thoughts regarding the current scenarios in hockey. The 57-year-old this time is on the receiving end of huge backlash from the fans for taking a laugh at Maple Leafs fans.

Fans would throw in some harsh words on him. While some took an exception for this take from a former professional official, some launched personal remarks against him. One fan bewildered by this action from Pee wrote “wonder why he is no longer employed“.
