“Won’t re-sign” – Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk’s trade takes new turn with Predators as contenders

Predators can become a prospective team for Matthew Tkachuk

Calgary Flames winger Matthew Tkachuk’s trade has been in the rumors for quite some time, but now the Predators have decided to make an appearance as a prospective team to take him in. True to its saying, ‘the Calgary Flames offseason is in flames” right now. They have already lost their star winger Johnny Gaudreau as he signed up with Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2022 NHL free agency.

Now the Flames appear to be on the verge of breakdown with another of their star winger leaving the team. Tkachuk has already made it clear that he is not interested in penning down another long-term contract with the team. And an unwilling player can’t be kept restrained. His trade is starting to look inevitable with the Flames set to have a hearing on their club-elected arbitration with Tkachuk.

Meanwhile recently on 102.5 & 106.3 The Game show, Jeremy Rutherford of The Athletic nonchalantly popped the name of Nashville Predators seemingly being on the radar of Matthew Tkachuk recently. Though whether the Flames will be willing to give him to the Predators is a different question altogether. With both Gaudreau and Tkachuk leading them, the Flames racked up 111 points in the recent season.

Till the wingers broke up, the Flames were considered a team having serious contenders. Though sadly they fell prey to Connor McDavid and the Edmonton Oilers. As for Tkachuk, he recorded 104 points last season with 42 goals and 62 assists. According to clutchpoints.com, the Predators have a salary cap of $8.4 million for the 2022-23 season, which is a sweet spot for Tkachuk, especially after finishing 12th in goals last season per contest.
