Flyers name Sean Couturier as their 20th Captain in franchise history
Sean Couturier has been named the captain of the Philadelphia Flyers and will wear the "C" on his jersey from here onwards.

In the midst of the 2023-24 season, the Philadelphia Flyers have now named Sean Couturier as their captain. He is now the 20th player to led the team as captain in their franchise history.
The team announced this massive decision on Wednesday. As per GM Daniel Briere and head coach John Tortorella, forward players Travis Konecny and Scott Laughton will serve as alternate captains of the team moving forward.
The 31-year-old now becomes the first player after Claude Giroux to take the important role of team captain. Giroux previously served as the team leader for 10 years from 2012 to 2022 before being traded away to the Florida Panthers.
Couturier is considered one of the modern-day greats of the Philadelphia-based outfit. He is just the fifth player in Flyers’ history to play for the team for 12-or-more seasons. With 493 points in his 771 career games, he is one of the ideal choices to lead the team.
This season also marks his return to the team. Couturier missed the whole of 2022-23 season with a back injury and returned to the line-up this October. He will now be hoping to become an inspirational leader of the side going forward.

In a major development regarding their captaincy, the Philadelphia Flyers recently named veteran forward Sean Couturier as their new captain. The Canadian professional has now expressed his gratitude towards the organization for this opportunity.
In his statement, Couturier said:
It’s such a great honor. It’s a really prestigious organization so this makes it even more special. This city is my home and I love it here. It’s going to be business as usual for me. Nothing is really going to change from me or my game and how I approach things.

Recently the Flyers became the hot topic of the NHL when news regarding Cutter Gauthier broke out. The rookie, who was drafted by the team, denied to play for them and demanded a trade. This saw huge reactions from the fans and experts.
Now Couturier will be hoping to lead his team away from this talks. The Flyers have enjoyed an impressive run this season and are currently 29-19-6 in their 54 games. This has placed them on third position in the Metropolitan Division, one behind the Carolina Hurricanes.
A push for the Stanley Cup playoffs is now firmly within their grasp. It will be now be interesting to see how the team performs under their new captain and leader.
