Yakov Trenin signs with Nashville Predators

Today forward Yakov Trenin penned a two-year $3.4 million contract with the Nashville Predators of the National Hockey League. Predators hockey operations and general manager David Poile announced the news today. As per his contract, he will get a cap hit of $1.7 million and $1.7 million as his salary. As per CapFriendly, to date, he has signed 3 deals worth a total of $7,625,000 million.

During the 2015 NHL Entry Draft, the Predators chose Trenin in the second round at 55th overall. Making his debut as a Predator, he made an appearance in 146 career games, tallying 41 points. Prior to his professional debut, he participated in three QMJHL seasons for Gatineau and represented Russia in the 2017 World Junior Championships.

The 25-year-old forward has set several NHL highs in 2021-22, with 80 games played, 17 goals, 7 assists, 24 points, 33 blocked shots, and 191 hits. Yakov Trenin was one of the six NHL players to record 191 hits, and 17 goals last season, joining the podium with his teammate Tanner Jeannot.

Apart from the Predators, he spent 4 seasons with the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals where he scored 87 points with 40 goals and 47 assists in 155 games, as per nhl.com. He was also named to the 2020 AHL All-Time Classic roster after getting 20 goals and 35 points in 32 games. Trenin participated in 10 Stanley Cup Playoffs, scoring 5 goals including 2-multi goal efforts.
