In the 2009 Canadian Hockey League Import Draft, Gabriel Landeskog was selected in the first round as the 3rd overall by the Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. In 2009 he has traded to the Kitchener Rangers. He was named the captain of the Kitchener Rangers later on 24 October 2010. He was the first European captain in franchise history. At the end of his junior year, he scored a team-high of 10 points in 7 games in the first-round series against Plymouth Whalers.

At the 2011 NHL Draft, he got chosen by the Colorado Avalanche and scored his first NHL goal on 12th October 2011 in a game against the Columbus Blue Jackets. He ended his first 2-goal NHL game in a 5-4 shootout victory against Chicago Blackhawks in 2011. On March 1, 2012, Gabriel Landeskog became NHL’s Top Rookie of the month in February after recording 7 goals and 6 assists for the month. 

Landeskog became the only Av to play in all 82 regular-season games and later got named to the Calder Memorial Trophy. He was announced as the team captain on 4th September 2012. During the 2013-14 season, he put a career-high in goals, assists, and points helping the team to the division title. He scored his first hat trick against Washington Capitals in a 6-2 win in November 2017, shortly followed by his second hat trick against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He was selected as the NHL’s First Star of the Week after scoring his third hat trick in a 5-3 win against the New Jersey Devils. He ended the 2018-19 season with a career-high of 34 goals and 41 assists.
