‘Homecoming’ for Brent Burns as he’s showered with love and affection
Brent Burns
Brent Burns would have felt a little special when he took onto the ring for the California Hurricanes against the San Jose Sharks. Burns was traded to the Hurricanes in July after the end of last season. Sharks gave the veteran a warm welcome back and the defenseman responded by saluting the crowd.
One thing is for sure, Brent Burns has made San Jose Sharks his second home and has a special place in the heart of the fans. He received a standing ovation after a video of him as a San Jose player showing all his years aired on the big screen. Safe to say, Burns would have felt like he never left the Sharks.
Brent was with the San Jose Sharks for more than a decade (2011-2022). Just short of 800 games, Burns was crucial in the Sharks’ run-up to their first Stanley Cup Final in 2016. He was the Norris Trophy winner for the 2016-17 season.

California sounds good too for Brent Burns
Burns was all praise for his new team too as he seems to have settled in well. “It’s a group that enjoys the work,” Burns said. “It’s contagious to see, before a skate, after skate, guys doing things all the time. It’s fun as an older guy to see that”.
Brent Burns looks like a content man as he is reeling in the move to the California Hurricanes well and absorbing the pressure of performance as the Hurricanes would totally be looking to build up on their game of the defenseman’s experience and game management.
“He’s been great from day one,” Hurricanes manager Rod Brind’Amour stated during training months. “He works hard. We know he’s a good person, but the way he plays he fits our system really well.” The Canes will be on a 5 game road trip that started at the Sharks.
Brent Burns has made California sound a lot better and seems to enjoy his move well. “It’s been awesome,” he said. “Amazing city. Lots of wildlife. The trees, I love. I love that it’s getting a little cooler, too. It’s beautiful in the mornings. The sunsets have been incredible.
