Igor Olegovich Shestyorkin, simply known as Igor Shesterkin is a professional ice hockey goaltender for the New York Rangers of the National Hockey League. Igor Shesterkin was chosen during the 2014 NHL Entry Draft by the New York Rangers as the 118th overall in the fourth round on 28th June, and in May 2019, he signed a 2-year entry-level contract with the team. During his first preseason game, he successfully stopped 36 of 40 shots in a 4-1 loss to the Philadelphia Flyers. He made his NHL debut with the Rangers on 7th January where he made 29 saves in a 5-3 win against the Colorado Avalanche. 

He finally earned his first NHL shutout on 23rd April 2021 in a 3-1 win against the New Jersey Devils. He signed his second extension contract for 4-years, and on 18th August Igor Shesterkin had 40 out of 41 saves during a 2-1 OT victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs.  This OT win was his 7th win with 40 plus saves since his NHL debut, the most among all goaltenders during that time span. He became the 14th NHL goaltender with 50 wins in 79 starts and concluded the 2021-22 season with a 36-13-4 record.

Shesterkin leads the league in both save percentage and goals-against average. On May 10th he was named the finalist for the Vezina Trophy as the league’s best goaltender, and in the following two days, he was named the Hart Trophy finalist. At the end of the 2022 playoffs, he was named to the First Team All-Star. On the international stage, he participated in the 2018 Winter Olympics and represented Russia as one of the top goaltenders in the 2018 World Championships in Denmark.
