Igor Shesterkin's pregame ritual

On Monday, New York Rangers goalie Igor Shesterkin threatened the team’s pregame ritual with a 2 seconds pause. Like every other team, the Rangers have their unique style to get hyped up before the main show.

But Monday was a bit different, as Shesterkin needed some extra seconds to get himself hyped up. Is this an indication of an impending storm? Sarcastically many questioned if the goalie is a robot who may have needed an extra moment to reboot himself.

The Rangers follow Shesterkin’s lead in the pregame ritual. It goes as – Shesterkin crunches down the middle of the doorway, while forward Ryan Reaves punches some of his teammates and yells “Shesty, release us!”.

The last part of the ‘u’ is an extra elongated one to firmly emphasize its effect. The vibe in the locker room surely gets everyone up for their match that day.

This time on Monday, Shesterkin remained crouched down even after Reaves called. Two ideas come up regarding this incident – either Shesty didn’t hear his last call or the 26-year-old goalie is actually a hidden robot who took his lovely time before hitting the ice.

No matter what it was, Reaves grinned looking at Shesterkin’s delayed response, and it put a smile on others’ faces too. Shesterkin blurted out something in a mellow voice akin to saying “alright” before heading out of his den.
