“Tough blow” – Blackhawks’ defenceman Jake McCabe likely to miss upcoming 2022-23 season after spinal surgery

Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Jake McCabe is having a tough season all-round. He’s been suffering from several injuries and has posted 22 points with 4 goals and 18 assists in 75 games last season with the team. His average ice time recorded was 20:18.
This was his first with the Blackhawks after he penned down a $16 million 4-year deal on July 28, 2021, with an annual average value of $4 million. The team will be starting their training camp on 21st September before marching towards the 2022-23 season opening. Unfortunately, McCabe won’t be able to attend the camp.

Jake McCabe expected to miss season for a time period of 10-12 weeks
On Tuesday, the Blackhawks announced that Jake McCabe won’t be participating for a long 10-12 weeks after undergoing successful cervical spine surgery. The 28-year-old got drafted in 2012 by the Buffalo Sabres and has participated in 428 regular-season games, scoring 99 points with 22 goals and 77 assists.
In the past, 2017-18 season the defenceman had missed 29 final games due to a shoulder injury, then again during the 2020-21 season, he fell victim to injuries such as ACL, MCL, and meniscus in his right knee against the New Jersey Devils on February 20.
He missed 42 final games for the Sabres. Apart from McCabe, forward Jalen Luypen is expected to miss 14-18 weeks. He had undergone a left rotator cuff surgery. Last season with the Edmonton of the WHL, he scored 64 points with 29 points and 35 assists in 66 games.
