Just like its name, it seems that Colorado Avalanche is about to burst out, especially after their match against the Bruins in Boston. They are currently in hot waters, as the team is missing core players to injuries. To make matters worse, left winger Artturi Lehkonen got body-slammed by Bruins Charlie McAvoy.
On Saturday, at TD Garden Arena, the Avs took a beating with a score of 5-1, but what made matters worse was the injury of yet another player. Coach Jared Bednar is not happy with that incident and has boldly called Charlie over dirty play.
At first, the hit by Charlie didn’t look much, but it hit the winger enough to have him sidelined. The defending Stanley Cup Champions are quite upset over the situation as the hit was totally uncalled and unnecessary. Charlie appeared to hook Lehkonen’s arm to drag him down the ice in front of the Bruins’ net.

Bennett Durando on Monday asked the Avs coach Jared Bednar about Saturday’s play. Bennett asked if the coach thought that Charlie’s play was dirty, to which Bednar replied “Yes”. When further asked if the takedown itself was the issue or the incident happening after the whistle, Bednar replied “Both”.
The 2022-23 season is just not giving the Avalanche players time to breathe. The worst possible situation has already taken place, as the team now stands with a ridiculous 10 injured players on the sidelines. The team is currently running with a score of 13-8-1, good enough for the final spot in the Western Conference.
As the regular season is just in its middle state, the Avs will surely increase their score for a stronger foothold in the wild card entry. Core players apart from Lehkonen who is on IL are, Gabriel Landeskog, Valeri Nichushkin, Evan Rodrigues, Bo Byram, and Josh Manson.
After Lehkonen left the game with an upper-body injury, he didn’t return and won’t be participating in the upcoming Flyers match. Just like Bednar, it seems the Avs can take their revenge on Wednesday night when the team will once again welcome the Bruins.
As per The Gazette, Bednar noted after Saturday’s match, “We have to be mentally tough. That’s the biggest thing”. “We still have the ability to win hockey games, although the margin for error is shrinking.”
“You feel like at times you have to be perfect in order to win. We certainly weren’t that tonight.” “Hopefully, we have reinforcements coming at some point without losing too many guys here”. “When the task is getting tough, you can’t fragment away from it.”
