MLB great Joey Votto was at the Scotiabank Arena and decided to embark on a challenge of taking a picture with every NHL mascot during the All-Star game.

The NHL All-Star Game brought fans of the sport to Toronto for the showpiece event. Several marquee names took center stage on Saturday night at the Scotiabank Arena. While pop artist Justin Bieber stole the headlines with his performance, another big name in Joey Votto made his presence felt.

The MLB legend was present in the arena to witness the All-Star game. The former Cincinnati Reds star would later embark on a hilarious mission. He would try to collect a picture with every NHL mascot present at the event.

The Canadian international would capture pictures with several mascots and post it on his social media account. In the caption he would write, “Gonna collect em all,” as a reference to popular anime Pokemon’s main tagline, “Gotta catch em all“.

As Votto embarked on his journey, he was seen posing with Blades the Bruin (Boston Bruins), Nordy (Minnesota Wild), Berg the penguin (Pittsburgh Penguins), Bernie the St. Bernand (Colorado Avalanche) and more. However, his encounter with Gritty, the Philadelphia Phillies mascot did not end up.

The giant orange mascot would ignore Votto. This led to the first baseman claiming he was “not friendly” with him. Check out the funny video of Votto having a time of his life from X below:

Joey Votto hilariously gets into beef with Gritty

While the hype around the NHL All-Star game reached its peaked when Auston Matthews‘ led side won the event, there was just a complete different matchup off the field. MLB great Joey Votto hilariously got into a beef with Gritty.

The Philadelphia Flyers mascot was not too intended to take the picture with Votto. The mascot was recently in the news as he challenged WWE Hall of Famer Snoop Dogg to take back the Golden WWE title from him which he received from the Philadelphia Eagles.

After Votto uploaded the video of him meeting the mascot and explaining the actions of Gritty, the Flyers mascot seemingly messaged him. He would ask Votto, “where u sitting?“.

The Reds great would take a jab at him and wrote on his Instagram stories, “you had your chance. I will never forgive you. Go Penguins“.

The response from Votto is what makes this interesting. Following this snub from him, Votto seemed to root for the Pens instead of Flyers. For the unversed, the Philadelphia based outfit shares an intense rivalry with the Pittsburgh Penguins.

At the end of the day though, things turned out well for Votto as he would share another video where he and Gritty would hug it out. Well all well that ends well. The night might have started out rough between the duo but they eventually made it up.
