The Cats started off Wednesday night by nailing their opponents Arizona Coyotes not only in brawls but also in victory. Both the teams seemed to carry some resentment over Jason Zucker and Nick Cousins incident earlier this month. The Florida Panthers won 6-2 against the Coyotes at Amerant Bank Arena.

The fans were thrilled to see the game as it displayed some old-time hockey fights within 5 seconds of the whistle blow. The first pair to go right up against each other were Panthers Ryan Lomberg and Coyotes Jack McBain. The NHL even prepared a special theme song, just perfect for this moment. WWE star John Cena’s theme song further hyped up the fight.

Maybe Taylor Swift’s ‘Bad Blood’ would also have been a good fit for the wild encounters seeing how much bitterness both team harboured. Nevertheless, gloves went flying and fans were roaring in the arena as McBain knocked off Lomberg’s helmet. His helmet hit the ice, as the officials broke them apart. But it was just the trial. The second brawl did not take much time to breakout.

Just moments later Coyotes Liam O’Brien started his own WWE match against Cats Jonah Gadjovich. They sure took their sweet time sizing each other up prior trading blows. These bouts washed off all lingering bitter feelings of January 2 at Mullet Arena.

With dust settling down, and Panthers skating in victory, alternate captain Matthew Tkachuk commented on the game. He was not shy in admitting how things did not sit well with him in their earlier matchup.

It was awesome. Tons of energy from our team before the game even started. Not too thrilled with the way it ended over there in Arizona. I thought we brought it tonight and we brought it from the start. It’s good to see everybody pitch in and just have a really good group effort.
Matthew Tkachuk as per The Associated Press.

Florida Panthers and Arizona Coyotes finally seems to settle Jan.2 score in latest match

The tensions seemed to reach its peak even prior the whistle was blown. Their earlier January 2 faceoff didn’t end on a good note as Jason Zucker received 3-game suspension for slamming Nick Cousins. On the other hand, Cousins entered concussion protocol which upsetted the Cats.

Matthew Tkachuk during post-conference meet noted how the fights within the first few seconds “really set the tone for us tonight”. “We have a couple of savages who started it off for us with two great fights…,” Tkachuk commented.

Although Cousins hit on Coyotes Juuso Valimaki was questionable , he did not get penalized for it. He received 5-minute major and a game misconduct which made fans question the leagues decision. Panthers coach Paul Maurice said “It was handled pretty right” but Coyotes coach Andre Tourigny wasn’t as impressed with his team’s performance.

He said, “I think there were a lot of distractions…Tonight our focus was not as tuned in.” Regardless, the fans enjoyed the starting few minutes until it was only the Panthers who celebrated their victory. The Coyotes will surely look for a re-match. Whenever that happens, fans will be excited nevertheless.
