Jonathan Huberdeau has hands faster than the Flash. With magic in his offensive game, he has done justice to his position for the Calgary Flames. He was first drafted by the Florida Panthers in 2011 as the No.3 pick. MacKenzie Weegar on the other hand was drafted by the Panthers in the 2013 NHL draft after he showcased his talent in the QMJHL, winning the Memorial Cup for the Mooseheads.

Both of them ply their trade for the Calgary flames at the time. Although, they developed a special bond in their time together for the Panthers. Jonathan and MacKenzie share a connection on and off the field which is quite evident during their matches for the Flames as the understanding between them is on another level.

Calgary Flames put on a hard effort in their last NHL home match against the visitors – Vegas Golden Knights. The Flames are still unbeaten this season as Mikael Backlund’s winner against the Knights helped them maintain their perfect run for the season.

MacKenzei Weegar must have enjoyed Jonathan Huberdeau’s innocence

As close as they are – Jonathan and MacKenzie, they definitely would have gotten a shock when the former learned that Weegar is a ‘lefty’. Yeah, you heard it correctly – in all these years playing together, Jonathan Huberdeau didn’t know which was his compatriot’s dominant hand.

Although this incident was way back, both the Flames players still end up joking about this. And the best part was, Jonathan got to know this during a fight when MacKenzie’s left hand was beating down on him for which Huberdeau still unknown of the fact must have thought that – ‘how is he so comfortable with the left hand’.

“I pumped him, that’s about it,” says Weegar laughingly. “He’s got that French temper I find, where he gets super competitive and then he’ll snap. He shows it, I’d say a couple times a year. He’ll snap for sure. The wires cross and he’ll start going after a guy.” Let’s hope that there aren’t any more buried secrets between the boys as of now, but who knows what pops out in the future that would surprise the both of them.
