During the goodbye game of NHL legend Marian Hossa, two of the greats Jonathan Toews and Peter Bondra came together to re-enact one of the classic goals in sport' history.

While the National Hockey League (NHL) might be on a break, the game of ice hockey has not stopped. As teams continue to assemble players and create goals and strategies for the next season, there are some who are having fun during this leave. On Friday, NHL legends Peter Bondra and Jonathan Toews combined together to recreate one of the most classic goals scored in the sport’s history by Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano.
The duo was joined by several other greats for a farewell charity game as Hall of Famer Marian Hossa waved his goodbyes. The Chicago Blackhawks legend is one of the most respected figures in NHL history. While a retired a long time ago, this was his goodbye game as players joined in for his last hurray. During this game, Toews and Bondra did something incredible.
Toews recently announced that he is taking a break from the NHL this season. There had been questions regarding his future following his health conditions. Soon speculations started to arise about whether he would retire after the 2022-23 season. He has refuted this and claimed that he is not “fully retiring” and will be back for the 2024-25 season.
It might be a while before hockey fans get another glimpse of Toews playing. During the goodbye game, he though showed signs that he still has got it and could feature for any team. He though gave the fans a moment to savor in the goodbye game.

The party was in full swing in Trencin, Slovakia on Friday during the goodbye game of Marian Hossa. It also produced a special moment between Jonathan Toews and Peter Bondra, who safe to say, took a page out of Trevor Zegras and Sonny Milano’ playbook. The Anaheim Ducks forward had combined together to create one of the most classic goals in NHL history in 2021.
During the 2021-22 season, the Ducks faced the Buffalo Sabres in December. The game produced a highlight reel as the Ducks forward. With the game still scoreless, Zegras would go to the back of the net and pull the puck forward. Milano was there to guide it in and was shocked to see the move work out. Bondra, the 55-year-old NHL great would later credit the duo for their goal in this charity game.
The charity game might have been played on a foggy ice surface but still turned out to be a great occasion. Hossa got the perfect send-off in his homeland of Slovakia as former players came together to cherish a wonderful player and his legendary career.
