Former NHLer Tomas Jurco and Swiss club Davos coach Josh Holden go viral as a video clip of the head coach yanking, and physically assaulting the player gets on social media platform. Several fans, coaches, and pundits have since reached out to comment on this incident.
Many supported the coach saying it wasn’t such a big deal, while others condemned his act. The incident happened during the 2023 Spengler Cup and was labeled a “crazy moment” by X user Steven Ellis. The video captured worldwide fan attention, reaching more than 2+ million views.
In the video, Tomas Jarco could be seen sitting on the bench when Holden suddenly approached and confronted him aggressively. Holden took a firm hold of the player’s jersey as he yanked it back and forth while verbally abusing the player according to several reports.
His verbal barrage didn’t end any time soon, as the player struggled to loosen the coach’s grip from his jersey. Jarco swung around his left elbow to lose the grip, but the act in itself could have caused some unwanted injuries. After the incident, the club released a statement on Jarco’s future with them:

As of now, there are no reports of any actions being taken against head coach Josh Holden for his actions against former NHLer Tomas Jarco. It is rumored that the player will be joining a club in Russia’s KHL. Regardless of the incident, the Davos won the Spengler Cup 5-3 against Pardubice.
The Athletics Scott Wheeler received messages from several coaches and agents who expressed their disbelief and dissatisfaction on seeing such physical and verbal acts during an on-ice game. As per Hockey Feed, one commented, “Real coaches know you can’t and shouldn’t do that sh*t.” One X user noted, “Even if he transferred to Hell, this is absolutely unacceptable from the coach ?.”
Tomas Jarco has played in the NHL in 221 games with several teams including the Detroit Red Wings, Chicago Blackhawks, Edmonton Oilers, and Vegas Golden Knights. He was selected 35th by Detroit in the 2011 NHL Draft and played for them from 2013-17.
