Kailer Yamamoto re-signed 2-year extension with Edmonton Oilers
During the 2017 NHL Draft, the Edmonton Oilers selected Kailer Yamamoto 22nd overall, and have recorded 93 points in 186 games for the team. His contract deal is expected to expire in 2024, making him a restricted free agent.
According to PuckPedia, the team is $6.8 million over their cap salary after signing Kailer and having other 21 players on their roster. Kailer is supposed to make $2.7 million with a signing bonus of $300,000 in the first year of his deal.
Back in the season, he scored 25 points in the final 40 games and 2 goals and 7 points in 14 playoff games. In the 2020-21 season, he scored only 8 goals and 21 points in 52 games, according to oilersnation.com. He’s a great forechecker who can keep the pressure on the opposing defenceman, though his style can be further improved to great levels.
