Cutter Gauthier’s trade saga is one of the greatest dramas of 2024 yet and could be even of the year. The Flyers favorite rookie’s trade to the Anaheim Ducks has not been welcomed by fans in the slightest. Numerous theories of Gauthier’s rejection to play for the team have been fictionalized, one of which is Kevin Hayes’ involvement.

The veteran forward player is reportedly close friends with Gauthier, spotting that they both were players from Boston College. With high tension already swallowing up the online community, Flyers reporter Anthony SanFilippo pointed out how Hayes may be one of the reasons Gauthier refused to play for the Flyers.

According to SanFilippo, Hayes has been in close contact with the 19-year-old before his trade from the Flyers to the Blues. He noted on X, that he spoke to someone in the organization “Kevin Hayes’ fingerprints are all over this,” the reporter noted. This claim quickly came to Hayes’ attention who took to the social platform to fire back at SanFilippo.

Not only Hayes but Philadelphia Flyers President Keith Jones and GM Daniel Briere stated that they were personally told by Hayes that the rumor wasn’t true.

Kevin Hayes reveals he got death threats from Flyers fans for rumored involvement in Cutter Gauthier’s trade

On Tuesday morning during Blues practice, Kevin Hayes made a public appearance since his rumored interference in Cutter Gauthier’s trade. He cleared up rumors of his involvement stating that it’s “100 percent false.” he even revealed that some Flyers fans have sent him death threats, “people want my family dead” he noted.

Yeah, I think it’s complete b***sh*t…those two guys acted like complete pieces of sh*t, to be honest, making sh*t up…At first it didn’t seem like a big deal. But just the sh*t that’s come from the aftermath, people with death threats, people want my family dead, people happy my brother’s dead…

Hayes said that at first, he laughed when he heard the rumors as it wasn’t a big deal. But things took a scary turn when fans got his family involved in a yet-to-be-verified rumor. He questioned, “Who the f**k am I to influence” whether Cutter Gauthier plays in an NHL team or not.

He also called SanFilippo an “idiot reporter” as he didn’t take the time to fact-check before calling Hayes out publicly. The Gauthier saga is far from its end. More interesting angles are expected to come out. Fans are waiting for the truth to be revealed on why Gauthier wanted to quit and even refused to talk with Flyers representatives prior trade to the Ducks.
