At the young age of 4, he started playing hockey and made his KHL debut during the 2014-15 season with Metallurg Novokuznetsk. In the following year 2016, he got named to the KHL All-Star Game.
Kaprizov got drafted in the 2015 NHL Draft by the Minnesota Wild in the fifth round as the 135th overall. Finally, in 2020, he signed a 2-year entry-level contract with the team but due to the Covid-19 impact, he reached an end to his first-year contract.
In the following year, he made his NHL debut in a game against the Los Angeles Kings on the 14th of January. He was the first player in NHL history to score 3 points and 1 OT goal in his debut to a 4-3 win for the Wilds.
He later broke the Wild’s franchise record for points by a rookie as he recorded his 37th point. During the 2020-21 season, he recorded 27 goals and 51 points, setting a Wild franchise record.
With his last 5-year contract signed, Kaprisov became the highest-paid NHL sophomore in history. He got selected for his first NHL All-Star game after recording 40 points in 32 games.
In 2022, he broke Marian Gaborik’s record for both points and goals by 84 and 43 in a season respectively. By the end of the season, he set Wild’s franchise record with 47 goals, 61 assists, and 108 points.
