The mystery regarding Corey Perry continues. The Chicago Blackhawks veteran has been out of action for the past two weeks without any news. As the speculations regarding his started to grow, GM Kyle Davidson later dropped a huge update regarding him and informed that he would be out “for the foreseeable future“.

The 38-year-old has been unavailable for selection and even missed training with the team. His sudden disappearance from the squad has fans worried as talks about potential trade have also erupted.

The player was said to be fit but still did not take part in the warmups during the Blackhawks 7-3 loss to the Blue Jackets. Coach Luke Richardson would call his absence an “organizational decision,” following the game. GM Davidson has now claimed that he has no update regarding Perry at the moment and confirmed the statement of coach Richardson of this move being a team decision.

Corey Perry’s agent counters GM Kyle Davidson’s statement

The absence of a player of Corey Perry’s status could be concerning. With him nowhere to be seen with the team in the past two weeks, the fans took to social media to ask about his whereabouts. GM Kyle Davidson later issued a statement regarding him. Perry’s agent Pat Morris has now countered the words of the GM and claimed his client is attending to some private matter.

In a statement released by Perry, he claimed that the NHL veteran had taken some time off the ice field to attend some private matters. He would even ask the others to appreciate their privacy at this moment.

This statement from Morris has once again raised questions among fans and others. The real reason for his absence can now only be explained by Perry when he finally returns.

The absence of the veteran puts even more pressure on the Blackhawks. With Taylor Hall out for the rest of the season, the pressure now lies on the young shoulders of the team. In the 16 games he has played this season, Perry is tied for fourth place for the total number of points with nine, just behind Jason Dickinson (11), Philipp Kurashev (12), and rookie Connor Bedard at 17.
