As the preparations for the 2023-24 NHL season get underway, the players have shifted their focus to the next season. They are now looking forward to the upcoming campaign to accomplish the goals they missed out on last season. Edmonton Oilers forward Leon Draisaitl has now claimed that they are the best team in the league and vowed to turn things around next season.

The Oilers enter the playoff rounds in commendable form. Their captain, Connor McDavid was leading the attack from front along with Draisaitl following an MVP award-winning season. They however suffered a shock 4-2 series loss to eventual champions Vegas Golden Knights, after leading in Game 5 with six minutes to go in the second. The Oilers attacker claimed that they were outplayed in several areas.

I think we’re the best team in the league at really, clearly winning a game. I think we’re not so great (when it comes to) finding ways to lose games,” Draisaitl said. He further added how a team has to go through these painful tough times and learn from those mistakes.

Every professional team has one dream at the start of a new season, achieving their set goals. While everyone wants to win the title and become champions, it needs more than just determination to win the whole thing. The Edmonton Oilers have also set their targets and according to star forward Leon Draisaitl, they now have “one goal” – to lift the Stanley Cup.

The dynamic duo of Draisaitl along with Connor McDavid is one of the most feared forward partnerships in NHL. They though have not been able to achieve the success they would have hoped for. Starting the season earlier than others, the Oilers have begun training for the upcoming season.

We’re determined, you can see in the fact that everyone is here working hard and trying to get things early. Obviously, there is one goal here and whether it pans out this way we’ll see,” Draisaitl told reporters. He further emphasized that they will try to do everything in their power to achieve this and pointed out that they are excited for the year.
