“My body is still holding up” – Marc-Andre Fleury aims to play at least one more NHL season

Marc-Andre Fleury
Goaltender Marc-Andre Fleury plans to play in the next season of the National Hockey League (NHL). Fleury, 37, who can become an unrestricted free agent after the season, is in the final season of a three-year, $21 million contract, he signed with the Vegas Golden Knights in July 2018.
The Sorel-Tracy native Fleury is 25-22-5 with a 2.90 goals-against average, .910 save percentage and four shutouts in 52 games against his name for the Minnesota Wild and Chicago Blackhawks this season, his 18th in the League. He is 6-1-0 with a 2.59 GAA and .921 save percentage in seven games since being traded to the Wild last month.

“I would like to play at least another season,” Fleury said on Tuesday, as quoted by NHL.com. “I decided that recently. I still enjoy playing. I still have fun, my body is still holding up, most of the time. But yes, another season and we’ll see after.”
“Fun to be part of a good team with good bunch of guys”

Fleury, who became the third goalie in the tournament history to win 500 games, made as many as 30 saves in Chicago’s 2-0 win against the Canadiens on December 9.
Minnesota registered a 2-0 win at the Montreal Canadiens on Tuesday, when Fleury backed up the 35-year-old Cam Talbot, who made 26 saves for his third shutout of the season. As a result, the Wild (48-21-7) secured a berth in the Stanley Cup Playoffs and are now tied for second place in the Central Division with the St. Louis Blues.
“It’s fun to be part of a good team with a good bunch of guys,” he added. “Cam is a great person, he’s a good goalkeeper, we get along well together. It makes things simpler. I think that together, the two of us, we should be playing [in the playoffs]. We will do our best to help this team.”
