Marc-Andre Fleury is one of the most loved NHL players among the fanbase. His play and pranks have attracted several fans to adore him for his contribution to ice hockey and even off-the-ice acts. Recently, once again ‘Flower’ flourished during the game against the New York Islanders as he surpassed Patrick Roy’s record for the 2nd most career wins.

Not only did the fans celebrate the special occasion, but the Minnesota Wild’s overwhelming 5-0 win against the NY Islanders further boosted the revelry. However, what caught the eyes of the fans was not only his historic record pass but also his sweet moment of thanking the goalpost for deflecting the opponent’s puck during the adrenaline-rushed game.

The video went viral on X (formerly known as Twitter), as the camera caught Fleury thanking and patting the post after the puck got deflected. This was not the only time he patted his post. He once revealed that he thinks of the post as his partner during games as it sometimes gets “lonely” to stand guard, while other players clash on the ice.

“Sometimes it’s boring man” – Marc-Andre Fleury shares true feelings about his job

Back in November 2023, Marc-Andre Fleury opened up about what it takes to be a goalie. His true feelings towards his position were labeled as “boring” by the goalie himself. In a hilarious turn of events, he noted how he missed having someone by his side during on-ice games, just to “hang out” with.

Fleury was mic’d up during an open-to-the-public outdoor practice at Recreation Outdoor Center by the Wilds when he spoke on this matter. He stated,

Sometimes it’s boring man, for a goalie, just stand there. Nobody comes say hi, nobody to hand out with. By yourself.

Despite being “lonely” out there, he admitted he loved his job. Although recently there’s been talk about Fleury getting traded after the contract ends with Wilds, or retiring from the league, there’s no official statement from him yet. He stated that he’ll make a decision by the end of the 2023-24 season.

He wants to “see how it goes, see how I feel physically, mentally, if I can still stop the puck” as there are bound to be “ups and downs” in the ongoing season. The fans are waiting with high hopes to see the goalie further down the years, but the 39-year-old is not sure yet. Whether he plans to retire or continue his journey in the NHL, he’ll remain one of the most celebrated and loved goalies in the ice hockey league.
