“A big part of the team” – Predators defenceman Mark Borowiecki stretchered off ice during game against Flyers
Mark Borowiecki stretchered off ice
Nashville Predators defenceman Mark Borowiecki narrowly escaped having a serious accident during Saturday’s Predators vs Flyers game. The team updated about the defenceman’s condition on Sunday through a Twitter post, captioning “Boro checks in”.
There’s no sign of any major injury as the 33-year-old defenceman is back at his home with only one homework – resting. In a statement, the Predators noted, “His return to practice and game play is subject to further rest, observation and testing”.
Predators coach John Hynes said, “It’s never comforting when you see a player or teammate go down in that fashion”. “I think when you saw it right away, when he hit the boards and then he went right down, you could tell it was a serious incident. He’s such a great guy, a big part of the team.”

Mark Borowiecki lay motionless after getting checked by Flyers Morgan Frost
Mark awkwardly hit the boards on Saturday after being checked by Flyers forward Morgan Frost at 6:24. He was later shipped to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center and got discharged the next day. The Predators standing with a 3-1 loss to the Flyers, gathered around the motionless player as Mark got stretchered off the ice.
The predators kept updating the fans about the defenceman’s current condition, including their recent statement. Given the verdict of not possessing any serious injury, Hynes said, “It’s nice to see that it looks like he’s going to be OK from the serious part of the injury”.
“Obviously, he’s going to be banged up here for a little bit, but it’s … nice to see him be OK and be able to get back on the mend.” Flyers Nicolas Deslauriers showed his concern post the game, “You don’t wish that to anybody”.
“I think it was an automatic, especially for me, to go knock on his pads, but I’m trying to get his phone number now and send him a text. Outside of hockey, we’re all humans. Those are things you don’t want to see. I think it was a weird accident there.
As of now the fans and the teammates are looking forward to having Mark on the ice. As there were no serious issues with the accident, we can hope to see the defenceman in action soon. As of now, he is enjoying his 11th NHL season overall with 15 goals and 41 assists in 457 games.
