Mark Stone all set to skate back with Golden Knights this season after back surgery
Mark Stone
Winger and captain of the Vegas Golden Knights, Mark Stone had an awful season this year as he dealt with back surgery, but that’s not all, he also suffered from other injuries in the previous year as well. A good rest, rehabilitation, and soft practice have now put the forward winger in a position to skate again.
Fans have been supporting him constantly on his way to recovery, and finally, on Tuesday, Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon confirmed he’s back in town and on the ice. He may be ready to open the 2022-23 season with the team after undergoing his May surgery. Golden Knights are opening the season on October 11.

Mark Stone may open the season but has a chance of missing the camp
McCrimmon noted, “Mark’s in town, he’s skating”. “Our expectation is he’s going to be available for the opening of the season. What that means exactly with respect to training camp, we’ll see.” Till now after his back injury, Stone has missed 26 games from Feb 9th to April 9th. During the Stanley Cup Playoffs, he did make an appearance.
He had 1 assist in 8 games as the team finished 43-31-8, only 3 points behind the Nashville Predators for the 2nd Wild Card in the Western Conference. It was the first time that the winger missed out on a total playoff game since he joined the team. For now, he’s running with a score of 30 points with 9 goals and 21 assists in 37 games.
McCrimmon further said, “I think that when you have these offseason surgeries … really, you don’t have that definitive timeline until the players get here”. “They work with your medical team, you see how they respond to certain treatments, to certain levels of intensity. … So, that’s how we’ll play it out.”
