Apart from Matt, forward Filip Zadina is also missing from the lineup. He is suffering from a lower-body injury and is expected to return after 6-8 weeks. He got hurt during the team match-up against the New York Islanders. His right leg got hit by a shot in the third period with the team’s 3-0 win on 5 November.

Defenceman Jake Walman is also out with shoulder surgery along with forwards Tyler Bertuzzi with an upper-body injury, Robby Fabbri with a knee injury, and Oskar Sundqvist with an upper-body injury. Tyler and Jake are expected to join the team within 7-10 days, as per Derek.

Derek commented, “We hope to have ‘Bert’ on the West Coast trip sometime”. “He’s an elite scorer, our best scorer. As great as our defense has been and chances against, our chances for have been down, which is understandable. He would help, obviously [with] some offense.”
