Chicago Blackhawks center Max Domi takes social media to apologize for the jokes made on his former team Columbus Blue Jackets over the Christmas break. Christmas for the Blackhawks started on an early high note after defeating Blue Jackets in a 5-2 victory at United Center.

Unfortunately for Max, social media burned out the player after he made some unusual jokes about his former team. The break started right after his comments on social media, which the Blue Jackets faithful didn’t take on nicely.

Soon after returning from break, Max typed on Twitter apologizing for his earlier comments. Though he didn’t mean to upset anyone, he still managed to trend on social media for all the wrong reasons.

Max Domi’s initial ‘joke’ comment was, “I’m pretty excited, actually. My whole family’s here. I was in Columbus for two years, so I didn’t get many visitors. All of a sudden I’m in a nice city, so my whole family wants to come. I don’t know if it’s me or the city.”

He later apologized and corrected himself stating, “I have nothing but great things to say about Columbus and all the people I met there. It was fun.” “It got spun out of proportion a little bit. It was a joke. It’s about my family.”

After signing a 1-year $3 million contract with the team, the veteran forward scored 10 goals and 21 points in 31 games. He is currently the 2nd on the team in scoring. Between his split season with Blue Jackets and Hurricanes, Domi recorded 11 goals and 39 points in 72 games.

According to NHL.com, Domi has participated in over 534 games with the Blackhawks, Hurricanes, Blue Jackets, Montreal Canadiens, and Arizona Coyotes. He has shot 11 game-winning goals in his career while recording 112 goals, 225 assists, and 337 points in 534 games overall.

Selected by the Phoenix Coyotes in the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, Domi enjoyed his first NHL assist and goal against the Los Angeles Kings in 2015. His relationship with Anthony Duclair back with the Arizona Coyotes earned him the nickname “The Killer D’s”.
