Morgan Rielly and Ridly Greig got into a tangle at the end of the game when the Senators player used the slapshot trick to score an empty-netter.

The fighting and drama in the National Hockey League (NHL) knowns no bounds. The high-tensed sport once again witnessed a shocking fight when Morgan Rielly cross-checked Ridly Greig during the Battle of Ontario between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Ottawa Senators.
The two Canadian powerhouses met for an exciting game at the Canadian Tire Centre in Ottawa. The hosts eventually came out top and claimed a 5-3 victory against their rivals. However, the talking point of the game became the actions of Reilly.
As the clock ticked down, the Leafs were down by one goal. They would leave the goal open as they tried to force overtime.
The Senators would break away with Greig finding himself with the whole unprotected goal to aim at. He would rub down salt on the wounds of the opposition as he hit a slapshot in front of a open goal.
This actions of him did not sit down with Rielly, who was chasing him down the ice. As Greig wheeled off to celebrate, the Leafs’ star would gone straight him and cross-check him. Tensions would boil over after this as several fights erupted in an already chaotic game.
Fans react to Morgan Rielly’s action against Ridly Greig
The NHL fans were in for a treat when the Maple Leafs locked horns with the Senators on Saturday night. The two Canadians teams have had mixed results this season and wanted to avoid another defeat.
In a topsy turvy game, it was the Sens who came out on top. The highlight of the game though is not it’s goals or assists, but the actions of Morgan Rielly on Ridly Greig.
Fans on social media were quick to react to this huge development. Several fans took out their frustrations on Rielly for this incident. One fan called him out as a guy who gave up “Big sore loser” energy and slammed him.

As fans attacked Rielly and passed on their judgment, Leafs coach Sheldon Keefe backed up his player and claimed they had the “right” to react to this situation.

It now remains to be seen what disciplinary action will be taken against him following this. In previous such incidents, players have been handed a four-six game suspension with the recent example of being David Perron who was slapped with a six-game suspension for cross-checking Artem Zub.
