Seems like Christmas didn’t bring any miracles for the Chicago Blackhawks as they still struggle to shake off an 11-game road losing streak. Despite their continued woeful performance into the New Year, the most hammering result has been the latest 1-8 loss against the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
The staggering result has stirred up the team’s alternate captain Nick Foligno the most, as he blasted his teammates for continued weak performances. The forward did not hold back as he stated it is “really, really frustrating with the strides we think we’ve been making,” with no visible results.
The veteran hopes the brutal loss to the Stars will be a wake-up call for them as the team will face off against one of their strongest competitors, the Nashville Predators. He said everyone has to “get hammered through our heads” that “we can’t accept” a loss and be okay with it; just hoping to strive better. It’s “really, really disappointing,” Foligno concluded.
My only hope for a game like today is we just finally hammer it through our thick heads of how we're going to need to play, and that is not it. That is just not who we are, not who we can be. That’s what pisses me off.Nick Foligno as per HockeyFeed.
With new young players joining the Blackhawks, the team absolutely can’t take any more losses, especially if they want to keep both their records and Stanley Cup dream alive. Foligno knows the stakes and said it is not only the fans but “we owe it to ourselves” to strive and win every game.
That’s not a winning team; that’s just a team hoping…Are you kidding me? That team’s record, and we’re going to play like that?Nick Foligno as per HockeyFeed.
Nick Foligno urges teammates to “fight tooth-and-nail to get respect” after embarrassing loss
Following back-to-back regular season defeats, Chicago Blackhawks forward Nick Foligno asks players to “fight tooth-and-nail to get respect”. He feels recent achievements have made them “starstruck again” and maybe that’s what made them lose focus on “what makes us successful.”
During the game, it was Philipp Kurashev who scored in a powerplay in the third period to end their trailing 0-5 skid. Unfortunately, the team failed to capitalize on the score as Stars once again took hold of the helm. Blackhawks forward Anthony Beauvillier said it was “hard to find some positives” after such a blatant display of widening score.
It seemed like every mistake was going in tonight, and couldn’t stop the bleeding…It’s a bad feeling losing a game like that.Anthony Beauvillier as per Sportsnaut.
Even Blackhawks rookie Connor Bedard looked back at his past performances calling Saturday’s 4-5 loss a “dumb play” on his part. He admitted he should have taken things slow and considered the right move before striking the puck instinctually. According to Tribune, he promised to learn from it and be more conscious of the game he plays.
Fans are desperately hoping to see the team manage a win, following back-to-back losses. There’s a lot to wager at the game between Blackhawks vs. Predators. Considering how the team will be facing one of its top nemesis, it makes the game all the more exciting.
