Nick Suzuki
Nick Suzuki had a lifetime moment on Wednesday at the Bell Centre as he made his way onto the ice rink as the 31st Captain of the Montreal Canadiens. Definitely, an unforgettable occasion for the 23-year-old as he led his team against their long-time rivals the Toronto Maple Leafs.
Captains have a tough day in the field, be it any game. They have to answer everything about the team’s performance and even take responsibility for the errors of others. So much scrutiny for a 23-year-old may seem much but former captains have put their faith in Nick to lead from the front.
Nick Suzuki who was present in Las Vegas for the NHL North American Player Media Tour said – “It’s a dream come true”. Certainly, he must be feeling the pressure but the kid seems to be handling it well.

Nick Suzuki definitely has an ardent supporter on his side in the form of Yvan Cournoyer, who was the Canadien’s captain from 1975-79.
He definitely knows a thing or two about the role. “It’s a great honor to be a captain of the Montreal Canadiens,” Cournoyer stated while talking to NHL.com.
Attributing Nick’s age and attitude Cournoyer was really looking forward to seeing the youngster in action. He says – “Last year, we didn’t have one. And I think we need a captain and he’s young, but he’s got a good attitude on the ice and off the ice and he wants to do well.”
The Montreal Canadiens finished in the last place in the concluded NHL season and this must be in the back of Suzuki’s mind.
However, Suzuki, who has a 3-year of NHL experience has a total of 143 points from 49 goals and 94 assists while playing a total of 209 games. The Canadiens will be without their star winger Carey Price this season.
