Blue Jackets strategize for comeback as Patrik Laine’s “out of lineup” with elbow sprain

During the ongoing NHL battle, the Columbus Blue Jackets forward Patrik Laine got placed on IL due to an elbow injury. The incident took place on Thursday in a game against the Carolina Hurricanes. After the doctor’s consultation, it was reported that Laine would miss out for 3-4 weeks of the season.
These missed out weeks can potentially indicate him missing out on the NHL game that’ll take place in his homeland on November 4-5. The team will face the Stanley Cup Champions the following month. In the recent game against the Hurricanes, the Tamperian native scored 11 seconds after the game started.
Patrik Laine got accompanied by his new linemate Johnny Gaudreau and center Boone Jenner as he scored 2 goals in the game. Unfortunately, his right arm got sandwiched between Hurricanes defenseman Brett Pesce and the end boards, forcing him to leave the ice way sooner than expected.

Johnny Gaudreau stated Patrik Laine’s absence will “definitely hurt us”
Finishing on ice time with 13:15 remaining in the 2nd period, Patrik Laine got assisted to the living room after he got examined by a trainer. His absence from the lineup has undoubtedly left a hole in their plans, while the younger ones got hungry for a chance. The St. Louis Blues swept the Blue Jackets on Saturday with a 5-2 loss, recording a team score of 0-3-0.
After Friday’s 5-2 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning, Gaudreau stated, “It changes the lineup completely,”. “Losing a player of that type of skill level definitely hurts your line, your team. It’s tough but we need to get this thing going here. We can’t wait for Patty to come back in three or four weeks.”
He further stated, “With Patty out of the lineup it definitely hurts us but there are still a lot of really talented and smart players here that are capable of helping us win games.” Last season he scored, 26 goals in 56 games while collecting 328 points in 408 NHL games with his current team and the Winnipeg Jets.
After Thursday’s incident, Justin Danforth replaced Patrik Laine and assisted Gaudreau in Friday’s game. On Saturday, Justin went scoreless. As a rookie, he scored 14 points with 10 goals and 4 assists in 45 games last season.
Justin noted, “I came into camp and worked really hard and was ready to play this year and I learned a lot from last year so I think it’s a great opportunity”.
