Former NHLer Paul Bissonnette and Seattle Kraken mascot Buoy started New Year with some friendly punches, smashes, and ankle throws. The whole hilarious incident unfolded right in front of ‘The Great One’ Wayne Gretzky during intermission at NHL Winter Classic 2023. 

Gretzky could only laugh and get bewildered on what to say amidst the chaotic situation. The whole Bissonnette-Buoy beef started months ago but no fists were thrown…yet. The circumstances changed when Bissonnette sat down to comment on the Kraken-Golden Knights game as Buoy trodded down onto the set with his teddy figure.

The two soon started bickering, and realizing ‘Biz Nasty’ was no opponent of Buoy…at least in size, he took steps back at the end of the table. He could be heard trash-talking to Buoy as the mascot calmly proceeded to chase the 38-year-old while shaking hands with others. The fun moment unfolded when Buoy came to shake hands with Gretzky.

Bissonnette shouted, “Stay away from him” while calling for security to come pick up the mascot. The whole farce ended with the former NHLer’s ankle throwing him flat down and sitting on top of Buoy. The fans loved the altercation, maybe more than the Winter Classic game itself. The video quickly caught the NHL’s attention and gained love from several fans.

How did Paul Bissonnette and Kraken mascot Buoy’s ruckus begin?

As mentioned earlier, the altercation between Paul Bissonnette and Seattle Kraken mascot Buoy began back a few months ago when the former NHL forward called Buoy the “ugliest mascot in all professional sports.” Although, his comments did deserve some WWE punches, the mascot too, took to X to fire back at the TNT analyst.

Days later, Buoy made a snarky comment on X:

Jealousy is a disease sweaty, hope you get well soon. P.S. Maybe Manscape your hairline before you come for my flow.

The two traded jabs often on X after that and became each other’s sworn enemies. On December 30, Buoy made a post on X, stating “Don’t hide from me,” to which Bissonnette replied, 

On my way to Seattle as we speak you mutant. I am going to take over your city you ugly SOB. Just watch.

Finally the fans, long-awaited fight ended with Biz Nasty slamming Buoy on the ground. Nevertheless, he remains a fan favorite and everyone knows Buoy the Kraken legend will rise from his fall…eventually. He now has a new mission in life: “Biz will never know peace in my city.”
