The Toronto Maple Leafs have continued to disappoint the fans in the 2023-24 season. Their last few loss have infuriated the fan base as they demand a coaching change or addition of new players. ‘Fire’ Sheldon Keefe chant has been running rampant on social media platforms.

Surprisingly, Paul Bissonnette, former NHLer and Spittin’ Chiclets host, stated Leafs’ situation can get better without the firing of the head coach. His unique take on the situation has earned some controversial takes, although his suggestion may not be one to take lightly.

He suggested getting mutants back on the ice, like fiery blue line Radko Gudas. Fans were quick to react to his idea, as they suggested different player’s names that could be added to the Leafs’ new lineup list. ‘Bis Nasty’ noted:

He further suggested that trade may play the crucial role of bringing the team back on the line under its already star-studded lineup of Auston Matthews, William Nylander, Morgan Rielly, Mitchell Marner, and others. Bissonnette lamented how the team did not get “Zadorov…Gudas…or Tanev” in their lineup during the trade season.

Craig Button blasts Sheldon Keefe and Maple Leafs for failed performances in last few matches

Toronto Maple Leafs 4-2 loss against Edmonton Oilers marked the team’s third consecutive loss. Despite enjoying a 2-0 lead initially, the Leafs failed to boost their record at Rogers Place. TNT analyst Craig Button blasted the team for its defensive play and how, despite being a head coach Sheldon Keefe failed to manage the team.

Button started by making a Hollywood movie reference to the 1992 ‘A Few Good Men’. He took the role of Colonel Button replacing Colonel Jessup as the movie character. Button boldly stated “You can’t handle the truth” but the Leafs are “not very good. Defensively, they’re not very good.” He revealed how the team’s inability to hold onto the lead and create chances for goals earned them all those losses.

They don't know how to hang on to leads and they know how to fold. And they did it again. This is up to nothing…It’s just awful.
Craig Button as per HockeyFeed.

Button believes the team has “structural positional problems” and it’s “up to the coach to instill a better defensive system and help the players understand.” If things don’t improve, Button thinks it’s best to replace Sheldon Keefe with someone else. “Either they find solutions or they bring in somebody that can find the solution,” he stated.

Will things change in Leafs prior to the end of the 2023-24 season? Will they be able to grab a Stanley Cup spot this year? Or if the team decides Sheldon Keefe’s fate is yet to be seen. Regardless of their aspirations, the fans want answers and are waiting to see how the future matches unfold.
