“Don’t think it matters individually” – Predators goaltender Connor Ingram makes 49 saves but fell short in 1-2 loss against Avalanche
Nashville Predators goalie Connor Ingram had a tedious outing against the Colorado Avalanche on Thursday at Ball Arena. The Saskatoon native made as many as 49 saves before the puck finally slipped past 8:31 into overtime as opposition’s defenceman Cale Makar shot it through traffic.
Ingram’s efforts could not secure a victory for the Predators as the Colorado team won 2-1 and took a 2-0 lead in the Western Conference First Round. Following this, the winning side players mobbed each other in celebration while the 25-year-old goaltender stayed on his knees for a moment.
“I think that was the first one all game I didn’t get my eyes on before it got to me, and that’s what happens,” Ingram said, as quoted by NHL.com. “I don’t think it really matters individually at this point. I mean, it’s a playoff series. If you don’t come out with wins, it doesn’t really add up to much.”
“Connor had a great goaltending performance tonight”
Predators coach John Hynes also leapt massive praises for the young goalie’s performance in the Avalanche game.
“Connor played great,” Predators coach John Hynes said. “He had a great goaltending performance tonight. He made lots of saves at key times, and it was nice to see him be able to play to his ability. I think against a high-powered offensive team, you’re going to need excellent goaltending to win games, and he certainly provided that tonight.”
“I think when hockey’s taken away from probably any of us, for whatever reason, lots of times you miss it and understand how great of an opportunity you have to play in the best league in the world, play a sport that you love,” he added. “And I think he’s grown up in multiple ways, as a person and also as a player.”
