The NHL on Monday night saw some royal traditions being followed as Prince Harry took the spotlight in the recent game. The Duke of Sussex performed the ceremonial drop of the puck at the Rogers Arena during the game between the Vancouver Canucks and San Jose Sharks.

Just like throwing the first pitch in baseball, the dropping of the puck before an NHL game is considered an important event. This time the guest list for the Canucks included the royals of the United Kingdom as Prince Harry along with the Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle made their presence felt at the arena.

The Duke would drop the puck between Canucks captain Quinn Hughes and Sharks forward Tomas Hertl. The crowd present in the arena gave a huge round of applause as Prince Harry followed the tradition with perfection.

For the unversed, this is not the first time that the game of hockey has been graced by the presence of royals. Late Queen Elizabeth was a huge admirer of the sport did something similar to what her grandson did on Monday. Coincidently, the former monarch of the UK had taken part in this tradition between these two teams nearly two decades ago.

Prince Harry gets pumped up during Canucks 3-1 victory on memorable night

The NHL world received a major surprise when the news of Prince Harry would be attending a game. The Duke was in Vancouver on a tour around the city which will host the 2025 Invictus game. This event will launch in 2025 and the injured, wounded, or sick military veterans from every part of the globe will feature in various sporting activities.

Following the drop of the ceremonial puck, he along with Duchess Meghan Markle would take to the stands to watch the game. Judging by the looks on their face, it is safe to say they enjoyed themselves. Prince Harry was also seen getting pumped as the Canucks went on to defeat the Sharks.

As Quinn Hughes assisted JT Miller for the third goal to make it 3-1, the royal couple were spotted cheering on the team. The Duke would get up on his feet and celebrate wildly while being clearly pumped up from the action that took in front of him. Their reaction was shared by the Canucks with the title “Two points and two new #Canucks fans tonight!

For the Canucks it was another win as they continued to impress this season. Meanwhile, the Sharks continue to disappoint their fans. This was their fourteenth regulation time loss of the campaign as they are now 3-14-1 for the season.

The Canucks’ next trip sees them take on the Colorado Avalanche in Denver, Colorado. As for the Sharks, they will try to improve their record for the season when they take to the field against the Seattle Kraken on Wednesday night.
