Things are just not getting right with the Vancouver Canucks since the start of the 2022-23 NHL season. As the winless streak continues, defenceman Quinn Hughes gets sidelined due to a lower-body injury. He got placed on IR on Monday.

In times of need, the Canucks called on defenceman Guillaume Brisebois from Abbotsford of the American Hockey League. He’ll be participating in the game against the Carolina Hurricanes and may fill in the position as of now.

Head coach Bruce Boudreau stated on Brisebois, “He’s a good skater, he’s got good size, so we expect him to compete”. “We expect him to jump in there and show that he can play in the NHL.”

Many Canucks players are either day-to-day or week-to-week. After Saturday’s major 5-1 loss to the Buffalo Sabres, the defenceman was considered week to week. Their winless streak continued as they lost to the Hurricanes carrying a 0-4-2 record.

This season he assisted 5 in 5 games while holding the 2nd place in NHL just behind Los Angeles Kings defenceman Drew Doughty with an ice time of 27:14. Apart from Hughes, Tucker Poolman was also placed on IR due to frequent migraine.

Last season it was these symptoms that limited him to 40 games with the team. On Sunday, Boudreau stated, “He is in a tough situation with good days and bad days”.
