“Congratulations to former Falcon” – Ryan Carpenter signs one-year contract with Rangers
Ryan Carpenter signs with the New York Rangers
Former Falcon Ryan Carpenter pens down a 1-year contract with the New York Rangers on Thursday. Rangers general manager Chris Drury said that he was targeting a low-salary depth center and he found what he needed. The management signed Ryan to a one-way deal for a League minimum of $750,000.
Ryan’s signing fortified the club’s option for the fourth line with a low-cost center bringing a lot of qualities that Kevin Rooney did. Coincidentally Rooney signed a deal with the Calgary Flames for 2-years at $1.3 million per year.
The Rangers welcome Ryan Carpenter to their team
Ryan Carpenter’s play is effective on the penalty kill and is relatively strong on faceoffs. As stated on nypost.com, Ryan is expected to have a good call on the fourth line as most of the other candidates are wingers. In the last season with Chicago Blackhawks and Calgary Flames, he had a total of 3 goals and 9 assists in 67 games.
The 31-year-old has 26 goals and 43 assists in 308 career games with the San Jose Sharks, Vegas Golden Knights, Chicago Blackhawks, and Calgary Flames. During the 2021-22 season, the Blackhawks traded him to the Flames for a 5th-round pick at the NHL trade deadline on March 21. Later he joined Rangers as a free agent from the Flames.
