Toronto Maple Leafs‘ enforcer Ryan Reaves has found his name trending again. This though is not for the reason he would have hoped for as on Tuesday, during the game against the St Louis. Blues, he got clobbered down by Nathan Walker.

The 37-year-old winger is known across the league for his tough plays. Recently the Leafs found themselves in controversy when their star Morgan Rielly cross-checked Ridley Greig following an empty-net slapshot from the Ottawa Senators man.

This brought out huge reactions from the fans as some slammed him. However, there were also some supported his decision to cross-check the Sens man including his coach Sheldon Keefe and Reaves. While he was later handed a five-game suspension (a decision which is now being appealed), Reaves claimed that Greig was lucky to get away with it and urged to make hockey violent again.

Additionally, Reaves even sent an intimidating message to Brad Marchand earlier on this season. The Bruins captain had got involved in a clash which Timothy Liljegren which resulted in the Maple Leafs’ star getting injured. Reaves claimed that this was not have happened if he was on the ice.

It now seems this words of Reaves has now come back to haunt him. During the matchup against the Blues he was smacked by Walker as he made his way forward. He would later just get up and move on with the game without any reaction. Check out the video below:

Ever since this incident took place, fans on social media have been trolling and mocking Ryan Reaves. A huge reason for this has been largely due to his previous comments regarding hits and cross-checking in the game.

Fans on social media have kept on reminding him about his words and are laughing at him. One fan referred to Reaves as “The biggest clown” across the whole league.

While the fans had their moment, Reaves got the last laugh as his side won the game 4-1. A hat-trick from Bobby McMann and another goal from William Nylander saw the Toronto-based franchise emerge as winners.

The Leafs are now 27-16-8 for the 2023-24 season. Reaves would be aiming to play a much larger role than this when his side takes on the Philadelphia Flyers in their next encounter at the Scotiabank Arena.
