The new NHL season has brought the tempers up once again. During the recent game between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Boston Bruins, an incident took place that has drawn a fierce reaction. The Bruins’ new captain, Brad Marchand, hit Timothy Liljegren. The Maple Leafs defender is now out of action for a while after suffering an injury. Ryan Reaves has now sent an intimidating message to Marchand.

Over the years gone by, Marchand has established himself as one of the modern-day greats. He is also known for his foul plays, which have made him one of the “pests” in the NHL. Reaves, who has been assigned the role of an enforcer, was not on the pitch when this incident happened.

Following the hit, Liljegren stayed down at the side. Marchand, on the other hand, was seen skating towards the Maple Leafs dugout, where he exchanged a few words with the players. Reaves was spotted arguing with the Bruins forward while trying to adjust to what had happened.

First of all, ' Get away from the bench,' Second of all, I guess he was lucky I wasn’t out on the ice with him. Yeah, unfortunately they had last chance so I didn’t get any shifts against him.
Ryan Reaves said regarding Brad Marchand through The Hockey Feed.

Sheldon Keefe left unimpressed by the response of team following Timothy Liljegren’s hit by Brad Marchand

The actions that took place between Brad Marchand and Timothy Liljegren during that game turned out to be worse for the defender. He has now landed himself on the long-term injured reserve list. His coach, Sheldon Keefe, is now unimpressed by the response of his team towards Marchand.

This is not the first time that the Maple Leafs have been called out for their lack of team spirit. TSN analyst Craig Button called them out after the players failed to show support for William Nylander. Perhaps Keefe came across this and was frustrated to see his team do the same again.

I hated everything about it. I have addressed it.
Sheldon Keefe said about the response of his team through CBS Sports.

With the words of Ryan Reaves and Sheldon Keefe, the next encounter between these two sides could be full of drama, with tempers flaring again. These two Atlantic Division rivals face off on December 2. With that being said, it will be interesting to see the encounter between Reaves and Marchand.
