Ryan Reynolds becomes NHL favorite to own Ottawa Senators, decision expected to be made by Christmas

After the death of the longtime owner Eugene Melnyk, the Canadian-American actor Ryan Reynolds has become the NHL favorite to hold the reins. Talks about Ryan gaining ownership of the Ottawa Senators have already been underway for quite some time.

He has time and again stated that he’s looking for partners to dip in their hands along in the bidding game. While that may have been his choice, the League itself has suggested Ryan wait and see who joins the game before setting out his own cards.

The National Hockey League has sparred no chance to dote on the actor. As per reports, they have made it clear that the League has confidence in the Deadpool actor, and if anyone is bidding for the Senators they have to make Ryan a part-owner.

The NHL believes that Ryan has the best skills in marketing and his team the Maximum Effort has been doing a great job at it. NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman and NHL’s head office are already in active talks.

Just like the Welcome To Wrexham docuseries, the league feels like the Free Guy actor is the only person who can tell the story of the Senators in a unique way. Apart from that, Ryan himself holds a special seat in his heart for the Coyotes.

Earlier in Tonight’s Show starring Jimmy Falcon, Ryan mentioned, “I grew up in Vancouver, which has my heart always, but I also grew up in Ottawa”. “I spent a long time in Vanier there, which is a little town inside Ottawa, a little community.”

“Children are eased out of the womb in ice skates in Canada”. “They’re ready to go. NHL-ready by the time they’re four.” Regarding his purchasing decision, he commented, “I am trying to do that. It’s very expensive, so I need a partner with really deep pockets”.

“It’s called a ‘consortium’ when you form a group together to buy an entity. It’s a fancy way of saying I need a sugar mommy or a sugar daddy.” Though he joked about it, Ryan is already in talks with Michael Andlauer, and Toronto billionaires Jeffery and Michael Kimel.

If Ryan purchases the Senators, it’ll not only help the team but also the League in the stretch. Plus we can’t complain about his interest in the sports world, as he already got his first experience with the Welsh Football Team Wrexham AFC. Apart from shooting movies, he has dipped his hands in other businesses as well as sports.
