He acts as the team’s center and is designated as the alternate captain for the Rangers. After his season with the Barrie Colts of the Ontario Hockey League, Ryan Strome was traded to the Niagara IceDogs during the 2009-10 season. After his second season with the IceDogs, Ryan was selected by the New York Islanders in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft in the first round as the 5th overall. He also got chosen by the Kontinental Hockey League’s Amur Khabarovsk in the 2011 draft. He later joined the American Hockey League minor league affiliate the Bridgeport Sound Tigers in the 2012-13 season.
He led the American Hockey League in points through the first 23 games of the season. On January 6, 2014, Strome scored his first NHL score against Kari Lehtonen of the Dallas Star. On June 22, 2017, he signed up with the Edmonton Oilers and appeared in all 82 games scoring 13 goals and 21 assists for 34 points during the 2017-18 season. During the off-season, he became a free agent but decided to sign an extension with the team further. Ryan Strome got traded by the Oilers to the New York Rangers in November 2018. He became the first player in NHL history to record 100 points with both the Islanders and Rangers franchises, on February 20, 2021.
