Scott Darling who is famously known for lending a hand to Chicago Blackhawks in lifting the Stanley Cup in 2015 retired at 33 years of age. “I got depressed when I retired. I was depressed for six months; I didn’t know what to do with my life. You live this regimented life for so long and then it’s gone and you’re like – What do I do, what do I do? I had to figure out something to get me out of bed in the morning.” He found his new found his interest in Stand – up comedy.

As startling as it sounds, the NHL star Scott Darling now seems to be well settled in his new adventure. Scott Darling mentions, he is himself surprised that stand up could fill the void in his life that he had pondered upon for as long as he can remember. It wasn’t easy for him, the transition was indeed a difficult one, but the journey was exciting.

Darling’s last game was at the NHL with the Carolina Hurricanes during the 2018-19. It was his fifth event of the kind. The Innsbruck HC in Austria was the next one, succeeded by lone wolf attempt with the Rockford of American Hockey League during 2020-21.

It was the coolest thing ever,” Darling said of winning the Cup. “I’m not going to sugarcoat it. I grew up in Chicago, I’ve been a ‘Hawks fan my entire life, I still am a ‘Hawks fan. … It meant the world to me.”

My family went to the parade in 2010, I watched 2013 with my mom on her couch and being on the 2015 team and helping them along, oh my God, it makes me emotional just talking about it. I think that’s the thing I hear most walking around the city to this day.” Scott Darling recently performed at Raleigh using his dark jokes on North Carolina and the crowd exclaimed,” Ohhhh, you can’t say that,’ ” Darling said. He says he is extremely thrilled on this new journey as much as he used to- for hockey back in the day.

I mean, I’m a noticeable guy, I don’t hide well, I’m 6-6, got a beard and covered in tattoos and all I hear is people yelling, ‘Nashville 2015!”. Scott Darling wants to keep attempting the comedy side of himself and wishes to amuse people to their guts for times to come.
