“Adrenaline carries you through the game” – Defenceman Seth Jones sidelined with right thumb injury, out 3-4 weeks
Seth Jones
Chicago Blackhawks defenceman Seth Jones will be hanging up skates for the next 3-4 weeks after incurring a right thumb injury. The team is currently trying to shift their roster a bit and wait until the defenceman returns to his position. While they are hoping to get it over in a few weeks, only time will tell.
Jones sustained the injury during Saturday’s 4-3 OT loss to Buffalo Sabres. The 28-year-old tried to block a shot in the second period resulting in the injury. He enjoyed an ice time of 23:55 while adding 1 assist to the game. While no issues were found till the end of the match, things started to get serious after it.
Before the 4-3 loss against Minnesota Wild on Sunday, coach Luke Richardson stated, “The adrenaline carries you through the game, then you start to cool down and things start to cramp up”. “It was sore, they took a picture of it, and that’s where we’re at right now.”

Chicago Blackhawks change their roster following Seth Jones’ injury
This season Jones recorded 4 assists in 8 games while leading the team with an ice time of 25:12. Coach Richardson commented, “That’s a big blow to our team; [I] feel bad for him”.
“He was playing well and playing a lot. It’s always a big blow to an athlete when they put all that training in and get hurt, especially early in the season, but hopefully it’s not too long, and we’ll just try and kind of shift things around a little bit, especially on special teams.”
“He plays a lot of big minutes for us and against top lines, so we’re just going to have to shuffle the deck a little bit, try to buy some time and win by committee on defense and wait until he gets back. That’ll be a boost for us when he does get back.”
