The legend of Sidney Crosby is not yet set for an end anytime soon. The Pittsburgh Penguins captain is now set to play in his 1200th NHL game when the Pens take on the struggling San Jose Sharks.

Crosby has been a part of the Penguins organization since he joined in 2005. The number one draft pick that year, he quickly rose to stardom and was given the role of captaincy in 2007. Since then he has continued to skate forward and create havoc for the opposition player.

Speaking about the milestone moment, the 36-year-old veteran claimed it is a lot of hockey but he continues to enjoy every game. He said this to the press when asked about how he felt about the milestone moment:

"It's a lot of hockey. I'm grateful I have been able to play this long and I love it just as much as I did game one."

He would be hoping for a better performance from the team as they are currently bottom of their division with a 3-6 record. The Sharks on the other end just cannot get a break. They lost their 10th successive game of the season when they were crushed 10-1 by the Vancouver Canucks. The Penguins would surely go into this game as favorites.

Sidney Crosby’s glorious NHL career so far

Ever since stepping foot on the NHL scene, Sidney Crosby was destined for success. He made a quick mark on everyone and shined like a diamond in his youth days. Now 36, the veteran may have lost a few of his magic, but he is still considered one of the very best in his field.

His 1,199 games are the most played by any player in Pittsburgh Penguins history. His incredible points record of 1,512 (555 goals and 957 assists) is only second behind the great, Mario Lemieux, a figure Crosby adored in his early days.

When it comes to his career, he has led the Penguins to three Stanley Cup triumphs. The first came in 2009 with the next two coming in back-to-back success in 2016 and 2017.

Dubbed “The Next One”, his rivalry with fellow veteran Alex Ovechkin has been one of the greatest rivalries in NHL history. The competitive battle between the two has also fueled the Penguins-Capitals rivalry with Ovechkin being the captain of Washington Capitals.

How will Crosby’s incredible NHL journey come to an end, nobody knows that. It is likely that he will join the Hall of Fame class soon when he hangs up his skates. For now, his goal is to help the Penguins do better this season as they continue to struggle in games.
