“Oh boy…errr buoy” – Social media welcomes Kraken mascot Buoy the Troll as he makes splashing first appearance

Buoy the Troll

Social media lights up as Seattle Kraken’s new mascot, Buoy the Troll debuts in the team’s preseason game against the Vancouver Canucks on Saturday. The little buddy took a sneak peek at social media, saying “hi” to his new fans.

The little host lit up the whole Kraken team, distinguishing them from their previous dark and mysterious vibe. The team’s Kraken image did cast a dark vibe to the fans all over, so this time they wanted someone to bring in some positive side to their usual image.

The mascot is featured as having an aqua blue nose, long blue-tinted hair, adorable eyes, and a beaming smile. It took him no time to harvest the love of the social media fans.

During its debut, he glided from the ceiling of Climate Pledge Arena to say hello to his fans. Before revealing their mascot, Kraken forward Morgan Geekie introduced a trio of kids to guess who the new member of the Kraken can be.

Players from different teams, pitched in to participate in this guessing game. Supersonics forward Detlef Schrempf suggested the team borrow Squatch from his NBA days.

On the other hand, Mariners pitcher Paul Sewald suggested the mascot should be “funny and who likes to dance.” Well, he got this one correct, as Buoy is an expert in this field.

But Seahawks Deejay Dallas asked the most obvious question, “Have you thought about a Kraken?” Later he needed to be reminded that a Kraken mascot will be too huge for an indoor arena.

But nonetheless, whatever everyone’s guess was, Buoy made a striking first appearance. And we’ll get to see this lovely mascot around Seattle from now onwards. He wasn’t only welcomed by the fans, but also by several other NHL mascots, who will be his family from now on.
